How doug handles your data.

doug collects only what's needed to match apartment listings to you:

• Your email address, used to sign you in.
• The preferences you set during onboarding: budget, neighborhoods, beds, household size, pet status, transit needs, and other apartment criteria.
• The listings you save, dismiss, or click through to.
• A natural-language profile generated from your preferences, which you can edit at any time from your profile page.
• Usage data: which pages you visit and basic interaction events. This is used in aggregate to understand how doug is used.

Your stored data is used to match apartment listings to your stated preferences. doug reads each new listing in Portland and selects a few that fit, then writes a short description of each. Your save and dismiss actions refine the matching over time. No data is used for any other purpose.

doug does not sell user data, share it with landlords or property managers, share it with advertisers or marketers, embed third-party advertising trackers, or track your activity across other websites.

doug uses third-party infrastructure providers for hosting, account storage, usage analytics, and an AI service for generating listing descriptions. These providers receive only the data needed to operate the service, under contractual terms that restrict their use of that data to that purpose. No data is used to train AI models outside doug, and no data is shared with parties beyond these operational providers.

To delete your account: open your profile page, select “take a break,” and choose “forget everything.” doug removes your email, preferences, saved and dismissed listings, generated profile, and every other row tied to your account. The action is immediate and irreversible.

To pause without deleting: the same page offers “pause doug.” Your data remains in place; doug stops generating new matches. You can resume any time.

Account data is stored for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, every row associated with you is removed from doug's database. doug does not maintain backups of deleted accounts.

If doug's data practices change in any material way, current users will be notified by email before the change takes effect. Minor edits (typos, clarifications) will appear here without notice.
